The Sugarloaf Parkway Extension - Phase 1 is a four-section project that will extend Sugarloaf Parkway from S.R. 20 in Grayson to S.R. 316/University Parkway in Dacula. The extension stretches over 6.1 miles and consists of four 12' lanes, a 44' grassed median and 16' shoulders within a 200' right-of-way and will provide a 55 MPH limited access route to improve cross-country connection and reduce traffic congestion. Other major components of the project include upgrades to over 2.5 miles of side roads, an upgrade to the existing signal at S.R. 20, a signalized Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) at relocated New Hope Road, a signalized Diamond Interchange at S.R. 316 and seven other bridged crossings.
Section One was completed and opened to traffic on February 2, 2010 with the remaining three sections scheduled for completion in 2012. |
